my girl & her septum (things our mothers shouldn't know about)

Hallie took us to 6th street in Austin tonight... I knew I'd love it here.
Rey and I decided to get our septums pierced... that is until I found out it was 80 dollars... since I'm super indecisive (and would probably take it out in a week) and more importantly super broke I opted not to do the piercing, Rey on the other hand went for it with the super god of piercing (seriously he knew everything single element about piercing.).

Blink 182 will always make me feel 14

LOTS and LOTS of driving, I've realized I've driven 18 hours in the past two days, I bet my butt is permanently molded into the driver's seat. oy vey. Texas is beautiful. It sounds totally crazy but the horizon line feels lower here, we haven't moved up in altitude but the sky feels lower and the clouds feel bigger and the sun brighter. Maybe we're just exhausted? Lots of music and talking consumed the drive. I'm a bit disappointed that I haven't heard nearly as many southern accents as I assumed there would be.
(At breakfast this morning Rey decided that I needed to get more acquainted with soaps for my internship)

Officially Cowgirls.

So last time I was in New Orleans I wasn't 21, enough said? Rey & I shared a huge 5 dollar drink and listened to dueling pianos, so great. We treated ourselves to a fancyish seafood dinner since we hadn't spent any money on food that day and were starving. It was seriously delicious. George (our beverage server, who we instantly became friends with) brought us lots of wine, dished about his upcoming nuptials and chatted about bar recommendations. After dinner with a few more drinks in our bellies we found what we had been looking for ever since we drove through Alabama... a mechanical bull. EPITOME OF THE SOUTH. So naturally we both rode the bull, which was a sight to be seen. So tremendously funny. My only regret is that we didn't have cowgirl hats on. Bummer. The night was full of new experiences, new friends and running into a couple from Long Island, NY... yup you can leave the Island but the Island will never leave you. (ON a side note Rey was really "funny" last night and has forbid me from putting some instances on the blog...you should ask her about her night in New Orleans, she'll laugh and give you more explicit detail)

9 hours to New Orleans

Drove 9 hours through Alabama, Mississippi and then over a very long bridge (over a lake we think?) to New Orleans! Exhausted but thankful to be in a city with public transportation. I was in New Orleans last April and absolutely adored it so I'm hoping to jump start that lovely relationship all over again/

strings of nashville

today was a nice & calm day in Music City. We woke up late, headed into Nashville and did some tourist-esk activities (like drink margaritas in Margaritaville) and then saw The Fighter. It was the first film I've seen in quite some time that literally gave me goose bumps, loved it. It was one of those pieces that makes you go "ok this is why I'm going into this industry." After the movie, Claudia's more than adorable Peruvian, scientist mother cooked us a wonderful BBQ meal with Brazilian beans, which apparently are supposed to bring prosperity to the new year...maybe I should have eaten more?  I wish we could stay with friends the whole entirety of the trip.

A new year in Nashville

This is the first time in five years I didn't throw a party with lots of friends on Long Island, which was a little sad. Instead I went to Club Mai in downtown Nashville. It involved lots of good dancing and lots of southern hospitality but not a lot of drinking as I played the role of DD... I'm thinking it was a prep-course for what Los Angeles will be like. I'm also trying to sort out all my New Year's resolutions. I'm thinking I should write them down and hang them somewhere in my room as a constant reminder.

Also today I read my horoscope for the entire year, which was a quite daunting task but necessary.
(http://shine.yahoo.com/astrology/) --> anyone have any better sites for horoscope reading?
I think everyone should read it, if even just for fun. Currently debating getting my palm read in New Orleans, good idea or bad?

NASHVILLE

Claudia is wonderful & a good friend I interned with at Vogue, she was our tour guide around the lovely city of Nashville. She took us to a $10 sushi buffet, shopping, TSwift's house, Love Circle, Centennial Park, Pink Berry and much much more....I really fell in lust with Nashville thanks to an awesome local lady tour guide.
